Russia's Millionaires Manifest Skyrocketing Growth
In Russia, the High Net Worth Individuals (HNWIs) population is increasing at the highest pace, having pushed us to the league of ten world leaders in terms of the growth, signaled the 11th annual edition of Merrill Lynch - Capgemini World Wealth Report.
According to World Wealth Report, the HNWI population in Russia stepped up 15.5 percent on year in 2006. Nevertheless, Russia still lagged behind Asia in growth rates. The number of Indian money bags gained 20.5 percent and Singapore set the pace of 21.2 percent.
The global population of HNWIs widened 8.3 percent to 9.5 million, while their aggregate wealth reached $37.2 trillion, 11.2 percent up on year. Of that amount, $285 billion was spent for charity in 2006.
The number of multimillionaires, i.e. the persons with wealth above $30 million, grew 11.3 percent to 94,970; their wealth totaled $13.1 trillion.
The United States leads in HNWI population worldwide. It is followed by Japan and Germany.
