For Chavez, Economy Cooperation Means Submarines
Venezuela’s President Hugo Chavez arrived in Moscow late Wednesday, RIA Novosti reported.
The Moscow order of business of Venezuela’s president sets forth inaugurating Simon Bolivar Cultural Center of Latin American Integration and delivering a speech in the State Duma. Chavez will also attend a business forum and meet Evgeny Primakov, who heads the country’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Chavez will stay for two days in Moscow and go to Roston-on-Don in the next move, where he will attend the horserace for the prize of Russia’s president.
The core subject of Chavez visit will be economic cooperation of the countries, emphasized Mikhail Kamynin from the RF Foreign Ministry.
According to the analysts, however, Chavez arrived in Moscow mostly to make contracts for Russia’s armaments and military machinery. The plans are to sell to Venezuela up to ten diesel submarines with missile armaments and TOR-M1 missile defense systems.
