Goncharova’s Picking Apples Fetched Almost $10m
Christie’s sold Natalia Goncharova’s Picking Apples for the record amount of nearly $10 million Monday, Interfax reported.
Picking Apples oil on canvass by Natalia Goncharova raised roughly $10 million at Christie’s Impressionist and Modern Sale on June 18. The initial estimate was £1 million, or roughly $2 million.
”So the world record for Russian paining broken less than a week ago in London has been hit again,” said Christie’s representative in Russia.
Christie's sold Konstantin Somov’s Rainbow for £3.72 million ($7.33 million) five days ago in London. It was a record for a work at that auction of Russian art.
