Russia to Double Sugar Import Duty
Russia may double the duty on sugar imports to $250 per ton, RIA Novosti reported with reference to Economic Development Ministry.
Russia’s Economic Development Ministry is deliberating whether to hike duty on sugar imports in winter. The rate could reach $250 per a ton vs. today’s duty of $140 per a ton, said Galina Balandina, who heads Economic Development Ministry’s department of the state control over foreign trade.

The duty on sugar imports has remained stable since the fall of 2005, all sugar ups and downs on global market notwithstanding.
