Moscow Visitors to Pay More than Anywhere
Moscow is the most expensive city for visitors, France Press reported Monday with reference to the Mercer HR survey.
Britain’s London holds the second score in this ranking and South Korean Seoul is the last of the leading trio in terms of the high prices for visitors. Tokyo and Hong Kong are scored the fourth and the fifth respectively, while Paraguay’s Asuncion has been acknowledged the cheapest city for tourists for the fifth time running.
The Mercer HR survey covers 143 cities of the world, weighing them in view of over 200 indicators, including the rent, the cost of transport, food, clothes and entertainment. The U.S. city with highest prices – New York – is used for reference.
But Moscow outpaced New York by 34.4 percent, having climbed 11 percent on year. The growth could be blamed on the U.S. dollar decline and on skyrocketing prices for housing, according to the analysts of Mercer HR. London proved 26.3 percent more expensive than New York, having posted the annual growth of 16 percent.
