Myskina Not to Play at Wimbledon
Once tennis No. 1 in Russia, Anastasia Myskina won’t play at Wimbledon that begins June 25. Myskina withdrew because of the foot injury, Wimbledon news service reported.
Having undergone a foot surgery early this year, Anastasia Myskina attempted to return in May but yielded to U.S. Megan Shaughnessy in the first round of Roland Garros.
One should be realistic, Myskina explained after the crushing loss, specifying that she was well aware that she went to Roland Garros not for victory but to check the extent of fitness. 2004 Roland Garros winner, Myskina said she had trained for a month before the tournament but her left foot was aching.
Asked about the plans after tennis career, Myskina said she can easily imagine her life without tennis. She has played in WTA’s six tournaments since past August, always losing in the first round.
”I have had a wonderful life in Moscow in the last five months [she was co-host of NTV’s football program]. So I know what to do after tennis,” Myskina concluded.
