Russia Resumes Transit Carriage of Cargo Via Estonia
Russia has resumed the transit of cargo via Estonia, Estonian PM Andrus Ansip told Latvian Dienas Bizness on Friday, Interfax reported.
For some time, Russia’s transit was bypassing the ports of Estonia, but the cargo has returned, Ansip specified, adding that the Kremlin pledged not to impose embargo on Estonian goods.
Asked about the threats to the projects of Russia’s business in Estonia, Ansip said the investments of Russia step up from year to year and currently account for 2.3 percent of the aggregate investments. Estonia gets 80 percent of direct investments from Finland and Sweden, and 50 states provide for remaining 20 percent.
The cargo turnover via Estonian railway shed by a third once the Monument to Russia’s Soldier, the so-called Bronze Soldier, was moved from downtown Tallinn in April, provoking tensions of Russia with this Baltic nation.
