China to Help Moldova Oppose Separatism
Secret services of Moldova and China will set up joint task force to oppose separatism, corrupt practices, trans-border and other crimes infringing on the national and state security. The respective agreement was reached in the course of the working visit of Moldova’s Information and Security Service to Beijing, News Moldova reported.
It is no secret that the problem of separatism is acute in Moldova, which is unable to settle differences with the self-proclaimed Transdniestria for 15 years already. China is also well-acquainted with separatism, ranging from Islamic separatists in the west of the country to Tibet’s national movement.
In addition to separatism, Moldova’s Information and Security Service Director Division General Ion Ursu, who led the delegation of Moldova to China, and China’s State Security Minister Xu Yongyue canvassed the methods to ensure security in time of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.
