CIS to Practice Missile Defense Large Scale
The large-scale exercise of missile defense facilities of CIS is slated for June 20, 2007, news service of Russia’s Defense Ministry reported.
The military will first practice in Telemba training ground, Buryatia. The parties involved are the units of Russia’s and Belarus’ Air Forces and Air Defense Forces and Missile Defense unites of the Baltic Fleet.

At the second stage, the military of Armenia and Kyrgyzstan will join colleagues of Russia and Belarus in traditional shooting at Ashuluk training ground of Astrakhan.

Middle Asia is the venue of the third and the fourth stages of training. The missile defense systems of Russia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan will be practiced on soil of the Asian nations.

In addition to shooting from new S-300 and Buk systems, the exercise is expected to test capacity of upgraded air defense systems of the first and the second generations, including S-75, S-125, S-200, Krug (Circle) and Kub (Square). The front-line aviation will also participate.
