Russia’s Withdrawal from CFE Treaty to Entail Grave Consequences
Russia’s refusal to execute the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe (CFE Treaty) will entail grave consequences, as the military power of Russia is the greatest in Europe, according to NATO files that have been released today.
The moratorium on CFE Treaty called on by Russia’s President Vladimir Putin will directly violate the treaty, as it sets forth no respective provision, the NATO concluded.

By testing new missiles and suspending membership in the CFE Treaty Russia responded to unreasonable actions of the RF partners, of the United States in particular, in part of deploying missile defense system in Europe, President Vladimir Putin explained at the news conference on May 31.

These actions of Russia shouldn’t be feared, as they are not of aggressive nature, Putin emphasized, pointing out they were just the response to ungrounded actions of partners.

Once the United States withdrew from the ABM Treaty Russia immediately warned that it would respond to maintain global strategic balance and that the response would be asymmetrical, Putin specified.

On May 29, Russia successfully tested its R-500 cruise missile and held the first test of RS-24 dummy ICBM capable of carrying multiple warheads.
