Russia Prevented Export of Documents for Creating Mass Destruction Weapons
An attempt to export from Russia the technical documentation which could have been used for creating the weapons of mass destruction was prevented in the Ural region.
Russia’s Federal Customs Service (FTS) said the officers of the Ural Customs Investigation had initiated two criminal cases on the illegal transporting of technical documentation and reports (28 booklets in total).
According to the estimations of experts, the documents cost $3.6 million. The information to which country the documents were being exported is not disclosed.
The FTS said only that the cases were initiated according to Part 3, Article 189 of the Criminal Code of Russia: illegal export or transfer of raw materials, equipment, materials, technology, scientific and technical information, illegal implementation of work (rendering of services) which can be used for creating mass destruction weapons, armaments, and military equipment.
