Disgraced Enforcement Officer Led to Bank Accounts in Emirates
Turkmen National Security Colonel Nurmurat Redzhepov was convoyed to the United Arab Emirates. Son of former chief of president’s guards, Redzhepov had been the embassy’s advisor there, Vremya Novostey reported.
Detained a week ago, Nurmurat Redzhepov was convoyed from Ashgabat to Abu Dhabi to get access to accounts with the banks of the Emirates, which were under control of his father, Akmurad Redzhepov. Dubai was the place of transactions related to him.
Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov fired Akmurad Redzhepov in mid.-May. Redzhepov had headed the guards’ service for roughly 17 years and had been the second in influence in the country in time of Turkmenistan’s late president Saparmurat Niyazov.
National Security Minister Geldymurad Ashirmukhammedov was also detained in addition to the Redzhepovs. Ashirmukhammedov’s deputy Agadzhan Pashshyev was dismissed “because of changing the office.”
New leaders of Turkmenistan are currently clearing the government’s bodies of Redzhepov’s people, first of all of those involved in his business relations with the son of the late president.
