Saakashvili Ready to Meet Putin
Georgian Parliament’s Speaker Nino Burjanadze has confirmed readiness of President Mikhail Saakashvili to meet Russia’s President Vladimir Putin.
Georgia’s President Mikhail Saakashvili has never refused to meet Russia’s president and intends to be in dialogue with him in future, Burjanadze made clear to reporters in Lisbon, where she arrived to attend the summer sitting of NATO Parliamentary Assembly.

St. Petersburg will host informal summit of CIS leaders in early June. Saakashvili has been invited to attend but it is yet unclear whether he will go to it and whether the bilateral meeting of Russia’s and Georgian presidents will take place.

Putin and Saakashvili last met at the end of 2006, during the Minsk summit. Russia realizes, Saakashvili said after that get-together, that it should have quite different relations with Georgia. Georgia isn’t the country, which it used to be in 1990s or even a year ago, the president emphasized.
