Probe Into Kozlov’s Murder Completed
Russia’s Prosecutor General Office has completed the probe into the murder of Andrey Kozlov, the first deputy chairman of the Central Bank of Russia, said lawyer Igor Trunov. Trunov stands for Alexey Frenkel, who is the key suspect in the murder.
Starting from today, all parties involved will set to studying 60 volumes containing the files of the criminal case, Trunov said. Seven persons have been accused of the murder. The main suspect, Alexey Frenkel, is charged with having orchestrated Kozlov’s killing, while Liana Askerova allegedly acted as an intermediary and there were five actual killers.

A high-profile banker, Kozlov had been fighting money laundering in financial community of Russia. He was shot September 13, 2006 after playing a football game at Spartak stadium and soon died of the wounds in a hospital.

The detectives spotted the links between Kozlov’s killing and VIP Bank. Headed by Frenkel, that private bank lost its license after the inspection initiated by Kozlov. Frenkel was detained in January 2007.
