Alitalia Cancels Eight Flights to/from Russia
Italian biggest airlines, Alitalia has cancelled eight flights to/from Russia because of the strike of cabin attendants.
Alitalia has cancelled 394 flights, including 187 domestic flights and 207 international ones because of the strike, Rai Uno reported. It is the second strike that Alitalia employees hold this month - the airlines had to cancel 202 domestic flights and 154 international flights on May 3.

The demands of the strikers are to hike salaries and improve labor conditions. Roughly 30,000 passengers have suffered because cabin attendants decided to stand up for their rights, according to the company’s evaluation.

The state-run Alitalia has been causing nothing but losses to its owner. It was put up for sale in late past year and the plans are to make it private by June. Of interest is that Russia’s Aeroflot is one of the bidders for Alitalia’s assets.
