Solana to Miss Russia’s-EU Summit
Javier Solana, EU High Representative for Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP), won't attend the 19th summit of Russia and the European Union that will be held near Samara May 17 and 18, Russia’s envoy for EU relations Sergey Yastrzhembsky told news conference Wednesday, RIA Novosti reported.
Solana won’t attend the summit, Yastrzhembsky said, as a very honorable award will be given in Germany on May 17 and the highest ranked politicians will take part in the ceremony. “It is the long scheduled event and, because of the timing, Mr Solana won’t be able to join our talks in Samara,” Yastrzhembsky explained without specifying the award.

So far, Javier Solana has participated in nearly all summits of Russia and the European Union.
