Condoleezza Rice to Visit Moscow to Deliberate on Missile Defense
U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will visit Moscow May 15, 2007, Reuters reported referring to the State Department. Rice will deliberate on stationing the U.S. missile shield in Europe and on the Kosovo status.
Rice will go to Moscow May 14 and 15, said State Department Spokesman Sean McCormack. “There are a lot of issues to talk about in the U.S.-Russia strategic relationship, spanning from nuclear nonproliferation to missile defense to the development of democracy in Russia,” Reuters quoted McCormack as saying.
But the official refused to specify whether Rice would request President Putin to clarify accusations of Munich speech of February 10. “I am sure they are going to talk about the tone and tenor and substance of the U.S.-Russia relationship,” the diplomat said.
Rice last visited Russia in October of 2006 to attend the meeting of G8 foreign ministers held to prepare the summit of G8 leaders.
