Wal-Mart Registered 42 Trademarks in Russia
World biggest chain of retail stores, Wal-Mart continues entering its trademarks in Russia’s register, Vedomosti reported. As many as 42 have been placed on the record to-date.
According to Russia’s Federal Service for Intellectual Property and Trademarks, Rospatent, Wal-Mart registered 26 trademarks in 2005, another ten in 2006 and two more this year. In addition to the Russian spelling of Wal-Mart, the company is the title holder for the brands, which sales account for a half of its global revenues. The business of Wal-Mart ranges from dog’s food to field equipment.
Another 28 trademarks of Wal-Mart are being registered now, according to Rospatent.
Sam Walton set up Wal-Mart chain in 1962. His descendants benefit from the world biggest wealth, which The Sunday Times evaluated at $84.7 billion. They hold 40 percent in Wal-Mart of $199-billion capitalization. As of late January of 2007, Wal-Mart chain comprised 6,782 stores in 14 countries of the world.
