Estonia’s Foreign Minister Suggests Introducing Sanctions Against Russia
Estonia’s Foreign Minister Urmas Paet said Tuesday he had addressed the European Union advocating sanctions against Russia and suggesting shelving Russian-EU summit slated for mid.-May, Interfax reported.
By attacking Estonia, Russia is attacking the European Union, Paet said, pledging to submit on Thursday the detailed actions, which EU could take against Russia.
Russia’s attacks are of virtual, physiological and real nature. The government sites of Estonia are being attacked from Russia’s computers. The traces of hacker attacks are leading to Putin’s administration, Paet said via Postimees.
According to Paet, the Bronze Soldier and vandalism in Tallinn were the internal concern of Estonia. The advice of the RF State Duma’s legislators to make Estonia’s government resign could be viewed as meddling in domestic affairs of Estonia.
Russia and Estonia are at odds now. A big diplomatic conflict inflamed once the authorities of that Baltic state ruled to move the Statue of Soviet Army’s Bronze Soldier from Tonismägi Hill in downtown Tallinn to a military cemetery. This move triggered mass rioting April 27-28 and a resident of Russia was killed during the clashes.
