Iran Is the World's Leading Sponsor of Terrorism
The U.S. State Department has released an annual report in which it identified Iran as the world's “most active” sponsor of terrorism. According to the report, several members of the Iranian government provide support to extremist groups in the Middle East. The Iranian Guardians of the Islamic Revolution and the Iranian intelligence service are said to be directly involved in planning terrorist acts and to support groups in Palestine, Syria and Lebanon.
The report also names Cuba, North Korea, Sudan and Syria as supporters of terrorism.

U.S. President George W. Bush told reporters after a meeting with European Union leaders that Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice might meet with Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki at a meeting on Iraq in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, on May 4.

“Should the foreign minister of Iran bump into Condi Rice, Condi won't be rude. She's not a rude person. I'm sure she'll be polite,” Bush said. But, he added, she will “also be firm in reminding the representative of the Iranian government that there's a better way forward for the Iranian people than isolation.”
