Rostropovich to Be Buried in Same Cemetery as Yeltsin
The celebrated Russian cellist Mstislav Rostropovich is to be buried near the grave of former Russian President Boris Yeltsin, a spokesperson for the Vishnevskaya-Rostropovich Foundation said Friday.
Mstislav Rostropovich will be laid to rest in Central Lane of the Novodevichy cemetery, opposite the grave of Boris Yeltsin, Tatyana Zagrekova told news agencies.

Acclaimed cellist, conductor and human rights champion, Mstislav Rostropovich died of cancer at a Moscow hospital on Friday. He was 80.

A wake service open to the public is to be held Saturday in the Moscow Conservatory, a music hall known well by the Moscow-bred musician. On Sunday, Rostropovich’s funeral mass will be held at Christ the Savior Cathedral in Moscow.

Russia’s first post-Soviet leader Boris Yeltsin, a close friend of the world-known cellist, died of heart failure on Monday and was buried in the Novodevichy cemetery on Wednesday.
