Russia Designs G5 Bomber
Russia has set to designing a missile-carrying bomber for Strategic Air Forces, RIA Novosti reported.
The G5 bomber will carry nuclear/non-nuclear weapons, including wide range of high-precision ones. It will take off both from stationary aerodromes and clay runways. And, in line with the worldwide trend, it is expected to be hard for the radar detection.
This aircraft will make its first flight in ten years after the project startup, said General Anatoly Zhikharev, deputy commander of the 37th Air Strategic Army.
Nowadays, the Strategic Air Forces of Russia are represented by Tu-95MS, Tu-22M and Tu-160 bombers. The planes will go through upgrading so that a portion of them could remain alert till the middle of this century.
