Rosprirodnadzor Urges FSB to Check Foreign Subsoil Users
Russia’s environmental watchdog, Rosprirodnadzor, has urged FSB to jointly check foreign subsoil operators that placed stocks on foreign exchanges in 2003 to 2007, artificially overestimated their reserves and failed to carry out geological exploration to required extent, the RF Natural Resource Ministry announced in news release, Interfax reported.
Rosprirodnadzor Deputy Chief Oleg Mitvol addressed FSB’s Economic Security Department calling on it to investigate the abuse when disseminating inadequate geological information about subsoil operation.
From 2005 to 2007, says the letter addressed to FSB, some foreign companies have been aggressively announcing results of Russia’s exploration and mining operations via the foreign media.
“The deals with stocks of those companies on foreign trading floors are being held exclusively in environment of regular positive information provided by companies themselves or by allegedly independent auditors,” news service of Russia’s Natural Resource Ministry quoted the letter.
