The main idea is not the name of successor to presidency. It is rather preserving the basic course, said Dmirty Peskov, first deputy of president’s briefer.

Having Successor Is Not the Highlight, President’s Briefer Said
The main idea is not the name of successor to presidency. It is rather preserving the basic course, Dmirty Peskov, first deputy of president’s briefer, told Russia Today TV Channel.
”We all need stability in the country, and we hope that the power transfer from today’s president to the future one will continue stability,” Peskov specified.

To a big extent, stability means inviolability of the RF Constitution, and it is the key idea of president.” “He said he won’t allow any amendments to our Constitution made just for the sake of extending the rule for another term,” the briefer reminded.

”It is quite definite that RF President V. Putin will vacate the office in about a year, and there will be a new president. Those will be the democratic elections with no successor. The basic idea isn’t who will be a successor, but rather how to preserve the main course,” Peskov explained.

At the same time, Putin will benefit from his popularity and attempt to promote a person chosen as successor, the official said. “He has the right to advise. He [the president] is a very popular policymaker, and he surely has the right to give advice to voters,” Peskov pointed out.
