Klitschko Lost Interest in Fighting Valuev
IBF king Vladimir Klitschko of Ukraine is no longer interested in fighting Russia’s Nikolay Valuev. On April 14, the WBA reign of the world tallest heavyweight Valuev was ended by Ruslan Chagaev of Uzbekistan.
Without the belt, Nikolay Valuev is of no interest to me, Klitschko said in the interview to official web-site of Klitschko brothers, emphasizing that his target is the matches aimed at consolidating the champ titles in boxing.
But speaking about the battle with Ruslan Chagaev would be premature, Klitschko the Junior said, explaining that he is unaware of plans of Uzbek boxer.
Asked about future fights, Klitschko confirmed he will defend the IBF belt against U.S. Lamon Brewster on July 7. The match will be probably held in Cologne.
As to Nikolay Valuev, he is resolved to keep boxing and “be good enough to move back up the rankings in the WBA and get a new title shot soon,” BBC quoted the giant boxer as saying.
