Kyiv Authorities Ask for Compensation from Opposition
Kyiv officials have suggested parties and organizations that stage rallies in the Ukrainian capital compensate for damages caused by recent protests, the proUA news agency reported Friday.
Authorities on Wednesday sent a proposal to political forces which stage protest rallies to compensate for damages caused to the Ukrainian capital, Viktor Goncharuk from the Kyiv city hall said Friday. Utilities companies that work at venues are going to calculate additional expenses they have incurred and send the bills to the parties.

The Party of Regions, which has the city’s largest number of tents in Mariinsky Part, has also received the suggestion. The party said it is ready to cover expenses by signing a contract with local utilities services on working at their events , Mr. Goncharuk reported.

Officials are still unable to name the exact value of the damage caused by recent protest rallies and demonstrations in the city. But additional refuse collection in Mariinsky Park alone costs $3,000 daily, according to Viktor Goncharuk.

City authorities say that political forces may as well volunteer to clean the areas where they rally.
