Ivanov Calls for Boycotting Estonian Goods
Russia’s First Deputy Prime Minister Sergey Ivanov has called on Russian citizens to boycott Estonian goods and refrain from trips to Estonia. Mr. Ivanov made a statement at a session at the Defense Ministry which discussed upcoming removal of a monument to the Soviet soldiers in Estonia.
Russian authorities must voice its opinion on the developments, Sergey Ivanov said commenting on Estonia’s plans to dismantle the Soviet Liberator Soldier monument.
The deputy prime minister underscored the need to finish the construction of a port in Kaliningrad Region “so that we don’t feed the budget of Estonia where 85 percent of the cargoes comes from Russia”.
Sergey Ivanov said Russians should express “their civic position” and boycott Estonian goods and tourist trips to Estonia.

But a few days later Prime Minister Andrus Ansip announced the start of preparations to dismantle the monument.
