Construction of Hotel Moskva Complete
Moscow authorities have finished the construction of the Hotel Moskva, the PRIME-TASS news agency reported Tuesday, quoting Moscow’s chief architect Alexander Kuzmin. Now the builders will have to decorate the façade and interiors.
Deputy Mayor Iosif Ordzhonikidze earlier said the Hotel Moskva would be ready by March 23, which will mean the start of decoration.
The new building has appeared on the site of the hotel of the same name which was demolished in 2004. The new hotel, which is a copy of the 1935 original design by Alexey Shchusev, has an underground parking lot and three atriums instead of one in the old Moskva.
The construction has been going on since July 2003. Deutsche Bank which is financing the work is ready to invest up to $600 million in the project, the Vedomosti newspaper reported in March. The new hotel will be a part of the Four Seasons chain. Moskva is due to be open in the second half of 2008.
