North Korea Fails Nuclear Test
North Korea’s nuclear test last October was a failure, Reuters reported Wednesday quoting CIA experts.
The nuclear test was a failure and gives no credence to Pyongyang’s claim to being a nuclear weapons power, CIA Director Michael Hayden was quoted as saying by a South Korea newspaper.

Pyongyang said last October it had successfully conducted a nuclear test. The United States later officially confirmed that the blast was a nuclear one. American experts estimated that produced a relatively low-yield explosion of less than 1 kiloton, equivalent to 1,000 tons of TNT.

North Korea’s declaration caused uproar, leading to a UN Security Council resolution imposing sanctions on the country. But the Communist state agreed to give up its nuclear program for financial aid worth about $330 million.

The CIA released the information amid of controversy between North Korea and other participants of the six-party talks over Pyongyang’s accounts frozen in a Macau bank.
