Bush Touts Alternative Fuel
U.S. President George Bush lauded domestic car makers for increasing production of cars running on ethanol and biodiesel. “That’s a major technological breakthrough for the country,” Mr. Bush said on Monday. The U.S. president believes that the country must reduce gasoline use in interests of national security and environment.
Meeting with U.S. car giants General Motors, Ford and Chrysler, George Bush said on Monday he appreciates that American automakers are aware of current problems in the world and use new technologies to make sure the consumer is “in a position to make a rational choice”.

America’s three largest car producers reiterated their commitments to double their production of flexible fuel vehicles to 2 million a year by 2010, Associated Press reported.

In his recent visit to Latin America the U.S. president and his Brazilian counterpart signed an agreement to develop alternative fuel production.

Brazil and the United States account for some 70 percent of world ethanol output – the fuel which can be used as an alternative to power cars.
