2/3 of Russia’s Pharmaceutical Enterprises Not In Line With Global Demands
Two thirds of Russia’s pharmaceutical enterprises fail to correspond to international requirements, Russia’s Health and Social Development Minister Mikhail Zurabov told the State Duma Friday.
Before calling for widening the market share of domestic medicine, the production quality should be taken care of, Russia’s Health Minister Mikhail Zurabov told the State Duma Friday.
”If our production facilities were licensed today under the internationally-acknowledged quality standards, two thirds of all pharmaceutical enterprises would be closed,” Zurabov said as quoted by Interfax.
At the same time, the domestic medicaments account for over 56 percent of medicaments consumed in Russia overall. The figure steps up to 70 percent for hospitals alone. In terms of money, domestic medicaments cover 20 percent, the minister specified.
”Elaboration of a separate program to back up domestic producers will begin in the near term,” Zurabov said when speaking about development of Russia’s pharmaceutical industry.
