Search Helicopter Finds Lost Mi-8
The search helicopter discovered Mi-8 helicopter that went missing in Komi republic of Russia three days ago, representatives of Russia’s Emergency Ministry told Interfax.
“The helicopter’s remains were found ten kilometers from the Environment Control Center. No information about the destiny of six people that were on its board is available,” said a representative of Emergency Ministry.

Gazpromavia’s Mi-8 took off from Ukhta airport at 9:14 a.m., March 21, to deliver Severgazprom technicians to the Ecological Control Center of the gas pipeline located in the mountainous area of Vuktylsky district.

At 11:00 a.m., Mi-8 landed near the Ecological Control Center, put down seven technicians and headed back to Ukhta. But the crew didn’t get on for a radio contact at 3:00 p.m., which was the scheduled time for it.

There were six persons on board – five crew members and an employee of Yugyd-Va National Park. The emergency locator beacon that is actuated in time of the fall or could be turned on by a man has sent no alarm so far.
