Explosion of Kuznetsk Basin’s Mine Killed 20 Top-Managers
The death toll of Ulyanovskaya explosion sets forth names of 20 top managers of the mine, including deputy director, chief engineer, chief mechanic and section foreman, RIA Novosti reported with reference to Kemerovo Region’s authorities. Overall, 203 people were in the mine in time of the tragedy.
Monday explosion in Ulyanovskaya coalmine killed 106. Ninety three were rescued and four others still missing are being hunted for.
The body of Britain’s resident, Jen Malcolm Robertson, was discovered in the mine. Mr Robertson represented IMC auditor that evaluates coal reserves.
The primary lead of investigators is the fall of the main roof’s rock (the matter at stake is the face handing wall, the coal production area). The fall released methane that spread in the mine tunnel and exploded.
Regional prosecutors initiated a criminal case on count of “breach of safety regulations when carrying out mining operations that led to the death of two or more persons through negligence.” Earlier, Emergency Minister Sergey Shoigu said “that the human factor is completely out of question,” as the mine is equipped with up-to-date facilities and safety devices.
