Fifty Three Saved from Exploded Mine
An explosion hit Ulyanovskaya mine, Kuznetsk Basin, at 11:16 a.m. MSK, Monday, when 168 miners were in the pit, Emergency Ministry said. Fifty three were saved from the mine, and the number of victims remains the same, three persons overall.
A helicopter of Siberian Regional Center of Emergency Ministry will soon deliver rescuers from Krasnoyarsk to Novokuznetsk, representatives of Emergency Ministry said. Kemerovo Region’s Governor Aman Tuleev has left for the site of the accident to take control over the rescuing staff.

Ulyanovskaya mine is located in Erunakovsky deposit, Novokuznetsk district. Put into operation October 7, 2002, i.e. on day of 50th birthday of Russia’s President Vladimir Putin, it is one of the newest coal producing deposits of Kuznetsk Basin and, therefore, has the most up-to-date equipment.

“Let’s think the launch of Ulyanovskaya mine our present to the gold jubilee of the president,” Tuleev said when inaugurating the mine.
