Former PM Told to Return Estate to State Ownership
Khoroshovsky Court of Moscow has committed former PM Mikhail Kasyanov to return to the state ownership Sosnovka-1 estate, Interfax reported.
At the same time, the court overruled claims of Russia’s Federal Property Agency, Rosimushchestvo, in part of enforcing on Kasyanov the payment of 46.5 million rubles for the damage caused to Sosnovka-1 and in part of collecting from him 61.5 million rubles for enriching himself by illegal means.

Sosnovka-1 is located in Troitse-Lykovo, north-west of Moscow. In 2003, the estate was transferred to Property Ministry by order of Mikhail Kasyanov, then prime minister of Russia. In the next move, Sosnovka-1 was sold at the auction for $345,000 though its estimate stood at around $27 million.

Kasyanov got the estate after a series of deals. Moreover, he obtained the right for the long-term lease of the land. In Rosimushchestvo, they decided the state was illegally stripped of the property and went to the Arbitration to challenge Kasyanov’s ownership.
