Over 3,000 Policemen to Guard Putin in Athens
Over 3,000 policemen were attracted to guard Russia’s President Vladimir Putin, who arrives in Athens today, Associated Press reported.
Russia’s President Vladimir Putin visits Greece in time of the students’ rallies protesting against the education reform there. Last year, the similar disorders led to clashes of youth and police with over 60 ultimately arrested and more than 20 wounded.

In Greece, Russia’s president is expected to seal an agreement on constructing the Burgas (Bulgaria) – Alexandropoulos (Greece) oil pipeline.

Putin toured to Italy before Greece, where he met with Prime Minister Romano Prodi, President Giorgio Napolitano and Pope Benedict XVI.
