Dealer of Soviet Air Defense Missiles Arrested in Lebanon
An arms dealer, who was carrying SA-7 Grail shoulder-mounted anti-aircraft missiles of Soviet-time make, was detained in southern Lebanon, according to Reuters.
Security forces in south Lebanon arrested a weapons dealer and his son in possession of three shoulder-mounted anti-aircraft missiles. Moreover, it was determined that the dealer sold two such missiles already, which he had bought in the base of Palestine Liberation Front to the south of Beirut.
Though the enforcement bodies of Lebanon tend to discover underground warehouses with explosives and hand grenades, such sophisticated systems as portable air defense systems aren’t universal in occurrence.
Fueled by clashes of Sunni government and Shiite opposition, the demand for weapons is accelerating amid the population of Lebanon, driving up prices of arms dealers.
