Forbes List Richer by Russians
In number of world’s richest, Russia is scored the third in the annual ranking of Forbes magazine, where the United States is the leader and Germany has the second ranking, according to Reuters.
Forbes says Russia has 53 billionaires with the total worth of $282 billion. Chukotka Governor Roman Abramovich is the richest of them. But he has only the 16th ranking amid 946 richest businessmen of the world. Russia’s Finance magazine claimed the wealth of Bazovy Element (Basic Element) owner Oleg Deripaska is even bigger, although Deripaska denied the information.
An average Russian billionaire is 46 years old, while the average age of 946 billionaires of the world went down by two years to 62. The number of billionaires grew 19 percent vs the previous year when there were 793 of them, but their total wealth stepped up 35 percent to $3.5 trillion.
Microsoft Corp. Chairman Bill Gates with the worth of $56 billion is the richest man for 13 years in a row. He is followed by Warren Buffett, chief executive of Berkshire Hathaway Inc. ($52 billion) and Mexican telecoms tycoon Carlos Slim ($49 billion).
