Sibir Energy to Acquire 8 Licenses in Russia
Sibir Energy has negotiated the acquisition of eight licenses in Russia. The company said it would pay $50 million for licenses for Koltogor fields, Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous District.
But the $50-million deal is yet to be approved by the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia.
Koltogor Group of fields is located near the world biggest fields of crude oil, Samotlor. Its C3 hydrocarbon reserves are estimated at 970 million barrels. The additional advantage is that Transneft pipelines and power transmission lines are running close to Koltogor.
Russia is the whereabouts for all assets of Britain’s incorporated Sibir Energy. The company has 50 percent in Salyma project, where Royal Dutch/Shell owns the remainder, and 95 percent in Magma Oil operator of Yuzhnoe field. Moreover, Sibir Energy is the owner of a sizeable stake in Moscow Oil & Gas Co., the majority owner of Moscow NPZ refinery.
The principal holder of Sibir Energy (60.63 percent) is Bennfield Ltd. that Russia’s businessmen Shalva Chigirinsky and Igor Kesaev own pari passu, AK&M reported.
