Russia to Have New Launching Pad
A new pad for manned launches may soon appear in Russia, said Anatoly Perminov, chief of the Russian Space Agency – Roskosmos.
Nowadays, Russia launches all manned spaceships from the Baikonur spaceport, which it leases from Kazakhstan. The Plesetsk cosmodrome isn’t used for the manned space launches.

“The matter at stake is a new site for manned launches on the soil of the Russian Federation,” RIA Novosti quoted Perminov as saying. “I will be able to give the location of the manned launching pad in a few weeks. Everything should be carefully weighed before choosing a new place,” the official added.
