Russia’s Nuclear Facilities Had 162 Operating Troubles Past Year
Russia’s nuclear facilities had 162 operating troubles in 2006, RIA Novosti reported referring to Konstantin Pulikovsky, chief of the Federal Environmental, Technological and Nuclear Oversight Service (Rostekhnadzor).
Nevertheless, 162 faults of the past year are 21 less than registered in 2005. Nuclear power plants went through 42 operating troubles, two faults less than a year earlier, and no cases leading to the radioactive aftereffects or nuclear discharges were registered there, Pulikovsky said.

At the same time, 586 accidents on facilities supervised by Rostekhnadzor led to fatal consequences in 2006.
