Dick Cheney Survived the Blast in the U.S. Base
A suicide bomber attacked the main U.S. base in Afghanistan visited by U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney, AFP reported. The blast killed 18, including three military, but missed Cheney.
The victims were mostly the workers gathered near the gates of Bagram airbase of the United States in Afghanistan. The explosion occurred near the main gates, confirmed Half-Colonel David Accetta.
U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney arrived in Afghanistan February 26 and intended to meet Afghan President Hamid Karzai today. But Cheney stayed on the base overnight once the negotiations with Karzai were shelved due to the weather conditions.
