Fidel Castro Recovering Well, His Niece Said
Fidel is recovering well from surgery and will soon appear to the public at large and be very active, said Castro’s niece Mariela Castro Espin.
”Fidel is stupendous,” Mariela Castro Espin said when attending the presentation of a book by her mother Vilma Espin. He “is recuperating as a man of 80 years should recuperate,” Mariela said as quoted by AP.
Fidel Castro relinquished power to his younger brother Raul in July 2006 after the intestine surgery. Nowadays, the U.S. authorities apparently hope that the death of the ailing leader will push Cuba towards democracy. But quite a number of analysts are not so optimistic, reasoning that the post-Fidel era has commenced in Cuba once his brother Raul took over the country. Raul Castro is backed up by the military, which could be decisive for delegating the power.
According to the poll held a fortnight ago, 54 percent of Americans don’t think the prompt democratic changes will happen in Cuba after Fidel Castro’s death.
