Rostransnadzor Banned Europe’s Flights of Nine Airlines
The transport supervising authority of Russia, Rostransnadzor, has banned charter and one-off flights of nine airlines of the country to the European Union. The respective statement was released via the Transport Ministry's web-site.
The cause of the ban was notification of the Transport Directorate of the European Commission specifying that a few airlines of Russia had been regularly reprimanded from 2004 to 2006.
The said airlines didn’t check the aircraft. They didn’t notify Rostransnadzor about the revealed violations either, which is the requirement of the transport authority.
So, starting from February 12, Rostransnadzor banned the E.U. flights of Aero Rent, Tatarstan, Atlant-Soyuz, Aviacon Zitotrans, Center Avia, Gazpromavia, Lukoil, Russkoe Nebo (Russian Sky), UTair to avoid damage to the reputation of Russia as one of the leading air powers and to improve safety of flights.
