Russia to Help North Korea
The costs for rendering assistance to North Korea will be shared by Russia, the United States, China and South Korea. Negotiators of six parties released the respective joint statement in Beijing February 13, RIA Novosti reported.
According to the joint statement of negotiators, the United States, China, Russia and South Korea have agreed to share the costs related to providing assistance to North Korea. The parties have also undertaken to attract Japan and international community to it.

North Korea is promised assistance in return to shutting down its nuclear reactor in Yongbyon.

Previously, RIA Novosti reported that Russia could write off Pyongyang debts or supply energy to it. The news agency referred to some source at negotiations, who spoke on condition of anonymity, but specified that the information hadn't been officially confirmed.

With interest taken into account, the debt of North Korea to former USSR exceeds $8 billion, estimated the analysts of the RF Economic Development and Trade Ministry.
