Russia, Saudi Arabia Open Aircraft Traffic
Russia and Saudi Arabia have entered into the Air Transport Agreement, news service of the RF Transport Ministry reported. Transport Minister Igor Levitin is a member of Vladimir Putin’s delegation visiting Saudi Arabia.
The intergovernmental agreement sealed by RF Transport Minister Igor Levitin provides for establishing regular air traffic of Russia and Saudi Arabia. The document takes into account the ICAO requirements and the requirements of national laws.
”Even now, the carriers can make regular flights between Moscow and Riyadh, Jidda, Dammam with the frequency of up to four flights a week to each point. Saudi airlines can also fly to two additional points in the Russian Federation at choice of the Saudi party,” the Transport Ministry said in the statement.
Russia’s Aeroflot has been regularly flying to Jidda since November 2006. Today’s frequency of flights is twice a week; the route is Moscow-Jidda-Luanda.
