Austria Denies Imposing Quota on Guests from Russia
The tourist office of Austrian embassy in Moscow has denied information about imposing the quota on Russian tourists in Kitzbuhel, RIA Novosti reported.
“We are preparing an official contradiction to the information appeared in the media. It is a lie,” said Anna Sergeeva from the tourist office of Austrian embassy.
It was Renate Danier, the outgoing tourist chief of Kitzbuhel, that spoke of introducing the quota on Russians in that ski resort of Austria. But Danier will vacate the office in a few months. “We think such high-flown statement relates to it.”
“What has caused such statements, we cannot say, as it is contrary to the logic of our work. We try our best to attract as many tourists to Austria as possible rather than make barriers,” Sergeeva specified.
Hoteliers in the luxury ski resort of Austria, Kitzbuhel, reached the deal to limit the number of Russian visitors to 10 percent of the total number of guests at any one time, The Guardian reported February 8.
