Russia to Limit Dairy Product Imports from Ukraine
Russia has narrowed today the number of checkpoints on Russia’s-Ukrainian border for milk product of Ukraine. The respective decision was taken by the country’s agriculture supervising authority – Rosselkhoznadzor. From now on, all dairy product of Ukraine will enter Russia only via the checkpoints in Nekhoteevka, Belgorod region, and Troebortnoe, Bryansk region.
The reason of sanctions is violations of Russia’s veterinary laws when importing dairy products of Ukraine, ranging from incorrect execution of veterinary certificates to changes in cargo routes vs. the accompanying documents.

Not only the milk product of poor quality is imported to Russia from Ukraine, the violations could be easily spotted in respect of the meat import from there. On January 24, for instance, 11 trucks with frozen pork (20 tons overall) were seized in time of the joint action of Belgorod branch of Rosselkhoznadzor and the regional enforcement bodies.

The drivers had no accompanying documents for the pork, but judging by the marks on it, the place of its origin was Brazilian Santa Katarina state. The tricky point is that no pork could be delivered to Russia from there because of unfavorable epizootic situation generated after the outbreak of the foot-and-mouth disease of O-type.
