Russia Still Not Allowed to Interrogate Berezovsky
Russian prosecutors say they haven’t received a permission from UK authorities to come to London to probe into the Litvinenko case, the RIA Novosti news agency reported Sunday.
“We have not received an official confirmation from British officials as yet,” a spokesman for the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office said Sunday.
Russian prosecutors earlier announced plans to interrogate as much as 100 British residents, including political émigré Boris Berezovsky and Chechen separatist Akhmet Zakayev who could give valuable information concerining the death of the former Russian special security officer.
Alexander Litvinenko died in a London hospital last November after being poisoned with radioactive polonium-210.
The Observer newspaper reported Sunday morning UK and Russian police had reached agreement on investigation activities of Russian experts in London.
The Scotland Yard and the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office are carrying out two independent investigations in the murder. Last Wednesday, Scotland Yard handed the results of its investigation to the Crown Prosecution Service.
