Putin Ready to Take Monument to Soviet Soldiers from Estonia
Russia’s President Vladimir Putin stands for reburying the remains of Soviet soldiers should Estonia decide to demolish the monument to Soldier-Liberator in Tallinn, Estonia. Putin made the respective statement during a big news conference held in the Kremlin today.
Asked what he thinks about taking the remains of Soviet soldiers from Estonia and reburying them in Mamaev Burial Mound in Volgograd, Russia, Putin said he is ready to take the Soldier-Liberator from Estonia.

On the other hand, the president specified that quite a number of WW2 veterans are living in the Baltic States. “They should be also asked whether it will be all right that we transfer the memory of joint battle against Nazism to our territory.”

“In many states of Europe, the monuments to Soviet soldiers are not only simply standing, they are even, I’m ashamed to say, looked after better than we do it in Russia,” Putin pointed out.
